Academia Publishing House

The publishing house was originally founded in 1953 as the Publishing House of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. It has been called Academia Publishing House since 1966.

Today, Academia is one of the leading publishing houses in the Czech Republic. Its editorial programme focuses on publications in all areas of the natural and social sciences.

Academia publishes original monographs and works by Czech scholars, classics of science and the humanities, translations of foreign authors, educational literature, non-fiction, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, language textbooks, handbooks and university textbooks, as well as high-quality Czech and translated fiction.
